Abstract
Ferromanganese encrustation is reported from the central Lakshadweep area along the northern flank of Chetlat Island. It has comparatively high contents of Co, Ni, Ag and Pt and a MnlFe ratio of <1. This hydrogenous encrustation is similar in composition to those from the equatorial Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
